Full-time, year round
Salary: Depending on experience

This position works with the FariCARES youth substance use prevention coalition, in conjunction with ISD 2134, to plan, implement and evaluate data-driven community strategies to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse within our communities. The position would be housed at the United South Central building in Wells, MN.

The program coordinator facilitates monthly coalition meetings with multiple community sectors, works collaboratively with stakeholders on prevention strategies and implementations, and will collect and interpret data regarding strategies for continuous growth. Responsibilities:

1.  Coordinate implementation of evidence-based strategies to effectively fulfill the community-wide prevention plan
2.  Coordinate and implement a high-profile mass media campaign
3.  Facilitate community education, including local festivals and county fair, and organize special events
4.  Report community progress to CDC and community stakeholders; collect and use data to inform DFC coalition members
5.  Serve as information resource for the coalition and the community; build relationships with community partners to reach program and finance goals
6.  Performs all other duties of a similar nature or level

Training and Experience:

Preferred qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, public health, education or related field
Experience with community coalitions and community outreach
Ability for in-state and out-of-state travel, as needed, for job requirements
Knowledge of substance abuse prevention and prevention science, theories and strategies; ability to understand and utilize data to reach project goals; applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or statutes
Familiarity with federal grants or the desire to learn quickly
